Inspirations and Comparisons

The inspirations  we used from other films of the same nature, was 'Se7en', we was inspired by the opening credits of the thriller piece which was the diary scene where there are multiple close up's of the diary and its content, it appears to be research on the murderers victims, this suggests that the antagonist is smart, patient and therefore much more dangerous which is what we wanted to portray for our antagonist character. To make it our own we used a photograph of the victim from earlier and got the actor to scribble out the young girls face with a pen as if he has just  completed something that the audience do not know about. i also wanted the font to be much like the one in 'Se7en' too however it is just didn't fit with our modern, new and mobile phone theme so we didn't use the font in the end, although I still thought we should have, especially if we could  manage to get it to go blurry and then jitter in and out of position.

There are quite a  few comparisons that the group recently found, these two films were called 'Jennifer's  Body' and 'Sorority Row'. Firstly, in 'Jennifer's Body' which is a black comedy horror, there are some scenes and shot which are very similar, for example the stairs scene where both girls have heard a noise from downstairs and slowly they  both begin to walk downstairs. the similarity between them is the massive difference between the light and darkness at the top and bottom of the stairs, this creates suspense, mystery and  portrays to the audience there is danger too come.
The second comparison between our thriller and Jennifer's body is that both open the front door to a false build up, both cannot see outside until they have opened the door because our front door was frosted and the other films front door was made or wood with no eye hole to see through.

The second film is called 'Sorority Row' which is a gory thriller, this films is literally just like ours as well, as i it has the same sort or theme as our does with a unknown caller leaving mysterious calls to the girls.

Here is a shot from 'Jennifer's Body' you can see the similarities with the lighting effects and the facial expression of them both, the lighting is very good on both scenes because half of her face is in darkness the other not keeping the theme of mystery from the caller. To get the same light effect we used a lamp which gave key lighting as it was the  only one on in the room at the times, creating shadows across our victim's face.
other than the storyline and themes there are no other real comparisons between the two except maybe that Jennifer's Body uses a similar camera angle as we don to film 'Anita' panicking on the phone.( medium close up)
